A Prayer for My Daughter
Father, I am holding my daughter in my heart tonight, watching her step into a world that will try to tell her who she is before she ever asks You.
I confess I worry over the wrong things. I have fretted about how she looks and how she is seen, and far less about whether she knows how deeply she is loved by You. I have let my own fears about being a woman in this world settle onto her small shoulders. Forgive me.
I turn to You, the One who knit her together and called her good before she drew a single breath. You see her worth with perfect clarity, untouched by every voice that would diminish her.
Make her brave and tender. Let her find her value not in approval but in being Yours. Guard her heart from those who would use it carelessly, and surround her with friends who love what is true.
Your word says You delight over her with singing, that You quiet her with Your love. Sing over her tonight where I cannot reach.
I give her to You, fully. Hold what I cannot hold. I trust the keeping of my girl to the One who made her. Amen.
Amen.
Our daughters worth was settled by God before the world ever weighed in.
