Forgiveness

A Prayer for Forgiveness of Sins

2 min readPray slowly
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”1 John 1:9

Father, I come to You with the weight pressing on my chest, the things I have done that I cannot undo and the thoughts I would be ashamed to say aloud. You see all of it, and still You let me come close.

I will not soften it or explain it away tonight. I have sinned against You, in what I chose and in what I refused to do, and the memory of it follows me into every quiet moment.

But I am not here to drown in it. I am here because You promised that when I bring my wrongs into the light instead of hiding them, You are faithful to forgive and to wash me clean.

So I lay each one down before You by name. Take what I cannot carry. Lift the shame that has been sitting on my shoulders like a stone, and let me feel the relief of being truly known and still wanted.

Make me new from the inside. Let Your mercy reach the parts of me I keep hidden, and teach me to walk differently tomorrow.

I trust the blood that covers me more than I trust my own regret. Thank You that no sin of mine is bigger than Your grace. Tonight I rest, forgiven and free. Amen.

Amen.

What you confess to God, He carries away. You do not have to keep holding it.
