Forgiveness

A Prayer for Forgiveness When I Keep Failing

2 min readPray slowly
“I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven”Matthew 18:22

Father, I am back here again, in the same place, with the same failure, ashamed that I am bringing You a sin I swore I had left behind. The repetition is what crushes me most.

I confess I have started to wonder if Your patience has a limit, if there is a number of times I can fall before You finally turn away. The cycle has worn down my hope.

But I came anyway, because where else would I go? I am tired of pretending I have it handled. I do not. I keep stumbling on the same stone, and I need more than willpower.

You said to forgive seventy times seven, and if You ask that of me, how much more does Your own mercy overflow toward me. Your grace did not run out the first time, and it has not run out now.

Strengthen me where I am weakest. Do not just forgive the failure, help me find the way out of it.

I stop measuring Your love by my consistency. Pick me up again. I am still Yours, even here. Amen.

Amen.

If God asks you to forgive without counting, He is not counting your returns either.
