A Prayer to Forgive an Unfaithful Spouse
Father, the person I gave my whole self to broke the promise that held us together. I move through the house and the betrayal is in every room, in the bed, in the ordinary moments now stained by what they did.
I confess my heart is at war. One hour I want to forgive, the next I want them to feel a fraction of this devastation. The trust I built my life on has collapsed, and I am standing in the rubble.
I do not even know what forgiveness looks like here, or whether it means staying or leaving. So I bring You the wreckage before I decide anything. I cannot carry this rage and grief alone.
You are near to the brokenhearted, You save the crushed in spirit, and tonight I am both. Come close. Hold what is shattered in me.
Help me forgive in a way that does not betray myself, that releases the poison without pretending the wound is nothing.
I give You my marriage, my anger, my unknown future. Be my refuge while everything else is uncertain. Carry me until I can stand. Amen.
Amen.
Forgiveness frees your heart from poison. It does not require you to pretend the wound was small.
