A Prayer of Thanks for Friends
Father, I just hung up the phone and realized how rich I am in the people who choose me. Not by blood, not by obligation, but freely. Thank You for the friends who keep showing up.
I confess I let weeks slip by without telling them what they mean. I assume there will be time. I leave the appreciation unsaid, as if they should simply know.
So let me say it to You first, plainly. Thank You for the friend who listens without rushing to fix me, who remembers the small things I mentioned once, who has seen me at my pettiest and most afraid and somehow stayed anyway. That kind of staying is rare, and I know it.
Your word says a friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity. You have given me people exactly like that, hands that reach for me in the dark, voices that tell me the truth even when it stings, company that makes the hard road shorter.
Make me that kind of friend in return. Steady when they are shaken, honest when they need truth more than comfort, present when it would be so much easier to drift away and let the friendship quietly fade.
Thank You for not making me walk this life alone. Bless the ones who have carried me. Help me carry them too. Amen.
Amen.
Say it to them before you assume they already know.
