A Prayer of Thanks for God's Provision
Father, the bills are covered, there is food in the kitchen, and a roof held off the rain again last night. I am stopping to notice how much You quietly carried me through this month.
I confess I usually only think about provision when it runs short. When the account is comfortable I forget to thank You, and when it is thin I forget how often You have met me before.
So let me count it now, plainly. Thank You for the work that paid me. Thank You for the unexpected help that arrived right when I could not see how the numbers would ever work out. You filled gaps I had no way to close myself.
You promised that my God would supply all my needs according to His riches, and again and again You have met the need, not always the want, but always the need. I have never once gone hungry. I have never once been left with nowhere at all to turn.
Keep my hands open, not clenched. Let me hold what You provide loosely enough to share it, quick to pass some along to someone with less, generous because I myself have been so generously kept by You.
I do not want to mistake Your gifts for my own cleverness. Every loaf came from Your hand. Thank You, my Provider. Amen.
Amen.
He meets the need, not always the want. That is mercy, not shortage.
