A Prayer for Hope in Hard Times

2 min readPray slowly
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you”Isaiah 43:2

Father, I am tired in a way that sleep does not touch. The bills, the news, the quiet dread when I wake, it all presses on my chest like a weight I cannot set down. This season has been long, and I am running low.

I confess I have started to brace for the worst, as if expecting nothing good might soften the next blow. But all my guarding has only hollowed me out and left me afraid to hope at all.

So I come to You honestly, with empty hands and a thin reserve. I am not asking You to explain the hardness. I am asking You to be near in it, to sit with me in the place I cannot fix.

You promised that when I pass through deep waters they will not overwhelm me, and that You go with me through the fire. Be that nearness now. Give me enough light for one more step, one more day.

I release my grip on the outcome. I trust that You are working even where I cannot see it. Carry what I cannot carry, and steady me until the morning.

You have brought me this far, and You will not abandon me now. Hold me through the hard, and let me find You faithful here. Amen.

Amen.

Hard times do not mean He has left; He walks straight through them with you.
