Loneliness

A Prayer for Connection and Community

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”Matthew 18:20

Lord, I am tired of doing life alone. I want a table to belong at, people who know my middle name and my worst week, a place where my absence would be felt. Right now I am surrounded by acquaintances and starved for real connection.

I confess I have made it harder than it needs to be, scrolling instead of showing up, keeping people at arm's length and then resenting the distance I created.

So I bring You this hunger to belong. You designed me for community, not isolation. From the beginning You said it is not good for a person to be alone, and You meant me too.

Lead me to my people and lead my people to me. Give me the courage to go first, to invite, to stay when it gets awkward. Knit me into something real, for where two or three gather, You are there in the middle of them.

I release my fear of rejection and my pride that says I should not need anyone. I was made to be carried and to carry others. Build me a home among Your people, and let belonging find me. Amen.

Amen.

You were designed for a table, and He is building it.
