A Prayer for My Future Spouse
Father, I do not know their name yet, but tonight my heart reached for them anyway, this person somewhere out in the world living a whole life I cannot see. It is a strange and tender thing, to love someone I have not met.
I confess my impatience, the lonely evenings where I bargain with You about timing, the way I sometimes try to force a door just to stop the waiting. Quiet that restlessness. Teach me to trust Your clock over my own.
So I lift them to You, wherever they are right now. Keep them. Grow them into someone kind and honest and free, and grow me into someone worth being found by. Let our paths bend toward each other in Your good time.
Guard us both from settling out of loneliness and from missing each other out of fear. Prepare us to choose well, to love with open hands, to build something that lasts.
You said that You make all things beautiful in their time, and so I will believe that includes this. You are not slow, only thorough.
I surrender the waiting and the wondering to You. Whether the answer is soon or far off, make me whole in the meantime. Write our story well, and let it be worth the wait. Amen.
Amen.
The waiting is not wasted. He is preparing you both.
