A Prayer for Money Worries

2 min readPray slowly
“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”1 Peter 5:7

Father, the money worry is the first thing awake in me each morning and the last thing whispering as I try to sleep, and it has worn a groove in my mind that I cannot seem to step out of.

I confess I have rehearsed disaster so many times that fear feels like wisdom now, as if worrying hard enough could somehow protect me from the thing I fear.

I bring this restless mind to You. You are the God of peace, not of panic, the One who invites me to cast all my anxiety on Him because He genuinely cares for me.

Quiet the spinning. Loosen the grip these numbers have on my joy. Let me see today clearly instead of through the fog of every imagined tomorrow.

Your word reminds me that worry adds not a single hour to my life, and that I cannot serve money and serve You at once. Free me from the master that keeps demanding my fear.

I lay this anxious habit at Your feet, even knowing I may pick it back up by noon. Be patient with me, and be my peace each time I bring it back. Amen.

Amen.

Worry has never once paid a bill or added an hour to your life.
