A Prayer for Health Anxiety

2 min readPray slowly
“I am the Lord who heals you, and my times are in your hands.”Psalm 31:15

Father, every twinge in my body has become a question I cannot stop asking. I notice a flutter, a pain, a strange sensation, and within minutes my mind has built a whole frightening diagnosis. I am exhausted from monitoring myself, searching symptoms, and bracing for bad news.

I confess I have made fear my doctor. I trust the worst voice in my head over the steady facts in front of me, and I keep imagining the very thing I dread most.

So I bring this anxious body to You, the One who knit it together and knows it far better than any search bar ever could. You are not surprised by anything inside me.

Help me care for my health wisely without being ruled by terror. Give me the courage to make the appointment, ask the real questions, and then set the worry down instead of feeding it for hours.

You said You are the One who heals me and that my times are in Your hands. Let me rest in that care rather than in my own frantic watching.

I place this body, with all its aches and unknowns, into Your keeping. Whatever comes, I will not face it alone. Free me from the prison of constant fear, and let me live today instead of guarding against it. Amen.

Amen.

Caring for your body is wisdom. Living in terror of it is a cage you can leave.
