A Prayer for Anxiety at Work

2 min readPray slowly
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord and not for human masters.”Colossians 3:23

Lord, my inbox is full, my chest is tight, and I can feel the pressure sitting on me like a weight before I have even opened my laptop. There is too much to do, too many people expecting things, and a quiet fear that I am one mistake away from being found out.

I confess I have tied my whole worth to my output. I measure myself by what I produce and lie awake replaying an email I sent or a meeting that went badly.

So I bring this clenched, overloaded morning to You. You are not my manager. You do not love me for my performance. You called me Yours before I had ever finished a single task.

Help me work from rest instead of fear. Let me do the next thing in front of me with care, then the next, without carrying the entire week at once. Quiet the inner critic that says I am never doing enough.

You said that whatever I do, I can do it heartily, as working for You and not only for people. Let that reframe my whole day and take the panic out of it.

I lay my workload and my reputation in Your hands. You hold my future, not my boss. Give me focus for this hour, peace under the pressure, and the freedom of knowing I am already enough. Amen.

Amen.

Your worth was settled before you opened your laptop. Work from that, not for it.
