A Prayer for a Heavy and Tired Soul

2 min readPray slowly
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28

Father, my soul feels heavy in a way that has nothing to do with my schedule. It is the kind of tired that sleep does not touch, a weight I carry into every room without ever setting it down. I do not even have the words to explain it.

I confess that I am worn out down to the center of myself. I have been holding so much for so long that the heaviness now feels like it belongs to me, like it is simply who I am.

So I bring this weight to You exactly as it is, without dressing it up or making it smaller. You are not afraid of how dark or how deep it goes. Sit with me here, in the middle of it.

I ask You to carry what I can no longer lift, and to give my soul the rest it has been aching for. If part of this load is meant to be shared with a doctor or a trusted friend, give me the courage to let it be seen. I do not have to carry this alone.

You invite the weary and the heavy-laden to come to You, and You promise rest for our souls. I am answering that invitation now, just as I am.

I surrender this whole heavy weight into Your hands and trust You to hold me when I cannot hold myself. Stay close, and let my tired soul finally rest. Amen.

Amen.

Bring the soul-deep weight to God exactly as it is; you need not carry it alone.
