A Prayer for the Heavy Days
Lord, today my body feels like it is made of wet sand. Every small task is uphill, my thoughts move slowly, and there is a weight pressing on my shoulders that no one else can see. I did not choose this heaviness, but here it is, sitting on my whole day.
I confess I am ashamed of how little I managed to do, as if rest were a failure and slowness a sin. I keep measuring myself against people who seem light and fast and fine.
So I bring this leaden feeling to You instead of hiding it. You see the full cost of just getting through, and You do not roll Your eyes at me.
Help me lower the bar to mercy. Let me do one gentle thing well rather than ten things in a panic. Let me eat something, drink some water, step into the light for a moment, and count that as faithfulness.
You promised that when I am weary and weighed down I can come to You and find rest for my soul. I come now, just as heavy as I am.
I release my list, my guilt, and my impossible standards to You. Carry what I cannot. Be the strength underneath my tired bones, and let this heavy day still be held by grace. Amen.
Amen.
On heavy days, surviving gently is its own quiet faithfulness.
