A Prayer for Faith to Believe Again

Father, I used to believe so easily, and then something happened that cracked it. A loss, a letdown, a prayer that went unanswered, and now I find it hard to trust the way I once did.

I confess I have been guarding my heart from You, half expecting to be disappointed again, keeping a careful distance so I will not have to feel that ache twice.

But the distance has only made me lonelier. I miss believing. I miss the closeness. So I am taking the risk of reaching for You again, even with the old wound still tender.

Help me believe again. Not by forcing me to forget what hurt, but by healing the place where my faith was injured, gently enough that I can trust You with it once more.

You are close to the brokenhearted, and You save those whose spirit has been crushed. So You are not far from a faith like mine, bruised and trying to stand back up.

Take my hand, Lord, and walk me back toward belief. Restore what was broken, and let me love and trust You again, with eyes wide open this time. Amen.
