A Prayer for a Peaceful Home

2 min readPray slowly
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.”Colossians 3:15

Father, our home has been tense lately, full of short tempers and slammed doors and a heaviness that settles over every room. The walls hold the kind of quiet that comes after harsh words, not the quiet of peace.

I confess I have added to it. I have brought my stress through the front door and let it spill onto the people I love most. I have been quick to correct and slow to listen. Forgive me for treating strangers more gently than my own family.

I turn to You, the God who makes peace where people cannot manufacture it. Real calm in this house will not come from better scheduling or fewer problems. It comes from You.

Settle what is unsettled here. Help us be patient with each others edges, quick to forgive, slow to keep score. Let kindness become the ordinary air we breathe together.

Your word says to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since we were called to peace as one body. Let that peace govern this house.

I lay our home in Your hands, the noise and the strain and all of it. I trust You to make it a shelter again. Amen.

Amen.

Peace at home is not manufactured by us, it is ruled into us by Christ.
