A Prayer of Thanks at the End of the Day

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety”Psalm 4:8

Father, the day is done. The lights are low, the noise has finally quieted, and before sleep takes me I want to lay this whole day back in Your hands and simply say thank You.

I confess I rushed through most of it without a thought of You. I checked off tasks and chased the clock and only now, in the stillness, remember to look up and notice You were there.

So thank You for carrying me through all the hours I forgot to thank You for. For the meals I ate without thinking, the small wins I barely registered, the moments of grace I did nothing to earn. For getting me safely, again, to this quiet edge of another finished day.

Your word says I can lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone make me dwell in safety. So I am choosing to let the unfinished things stay unfinished tonight. The list will still be there, and it will keep just fine until morning.

Forgive what I got wrong today. Hold what I could not finish. Quiet the replay reel in my head that wants to keep me awake.

Thank You for this day, all of it. Now let me rest, knowing tomorrow is already in Your keeping. Amen.

Amen.

Let the unfinished things stay unfinished. They will keep till morning.
