A Prayer of Gratitude for Second Chances

“He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities”Psalm 103:10

Father, I did not deserve another shot at this, and You gave me one anyway. After the mess I made, after the door I thought I had slammed for good, here I am with a clean page in front of me.

I confess I expected the consequences I had coming. I had already written the ending, already condemned myself. I did not count on mercy walking in and tearing up the verdict.

So thank You for the second chance, and the third, and however many it has honestly been by now. Thank You for being a God who patiently restores what is broken instead of one who simply discards it and moves on to someone less trouble than me.

Your word says You do not treat me as my sins deserve or repay me according to all I have done wrong. I am living proof of that mercy, standing in a place I had absolutely no right to be standing, holding a future I had already thrown away.

Do not let me waste this. Let the gratitude show up as change, not just relief. Let me become someone who extends to others the grace I was handed.

Thank You for not being finished with me when I was sure I was finished. Help me begin again well. Amen.

Amen.

Let the gratitude show up as change, not just relief.
