A Prayer of Thanks for God's Love

“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God”Romans 8:39

Father, I am sitting with a truth I struggle to believe most days: that You love me. Not the version of me I perform, but the real one, the tired and flawed one. And still You stay.

I confess I keep trying to earn what You already give freely. I tally my failures and assume Your love thins out with them, as if You could be talked out of caring for me.

But Your love does not work the way mine does. It does not keep a running score of my failures. It does not cool off or pull back the moment I fall short. Thank You for a love I could never have earned in the first place and somehow cannot lose no matter how badly I stumble.

Your word says nothing in all creation can separate me from Your love, not height nor depth nor anything in the present nor anything still to come. Let that truth sink down past all my doubt and finally settle deep in my bones where the lies live.

When the accusing voice tells me I am too much or not nearly enough, drown it out completely with this one fact. I am loved. Fully. Already. Right now, exactly as I am, before I fix a single thing.

Thank You for loving me before I knew how to love You back. Let me rest in that and stop striving. Amen.

Amen.

You cannot earn a love you also cannot lose. So rest.
