A Prayer of Thanks for Work and Provision
Father, I clocked out tired tonight, but it is a good kind of tired. I have work to do, and that work puts food on the table and dignity in my hands. I almost forget what a gift that is.
I confess I complain about my job more than I thank You for it. I see the frustrations clearly and the provision dimly. I forget how many would gladly carry the burden I grumble about.
So thank You for the labor itself and for everything it provides. For a skill resting in my hands, a reason to get up before the sun, a way to put something useful back into the world and to provide for the people who quietly depend on me.
Your word says that whatever I do, I should work at it with all my heart, as working for You and not merely for people. Let that truth lift even the dull and thankless tasks into something I can actually offer up to You as worship.
Where the work is hard or unfair, give me endurance. Where it is going nowhere, give me either a door or peace. And let me never despise the hands that feed me.
Thank You for work and the provision it brings. Bless the labor of my hands. Amen.
Amen.
Many would gladly carry the burden you grumble about.
