A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Blessings
Father, if I am honest, I have more than I let myself feel. A list of blessings I keep forgetting to read because I am so focused on the one or two things still missing.
I confess my eyes are trained to find the gap. I can name every want in seconds but stumble when I try to count the gifts. Discontent has become a reflex in me.
So tonight I want to retrain my attention. Thank You for the roof over me, the warmth when it is cold, the people who know my name, the second chances I keep being handed, the small comforts I would miss terribly the very moment they vanished. None of it is small when I imagine it gone.
Your word says to bless Your name and forget not all Your benefits, and I have been forgetting far too many of them. Forgive the short memory of an ungrateful heart, so quick to remember a slight and so slow to remember a kindness.
Loosen the grip of comparison on me. Let me stop measuring my life against everyone else's carefully edited highlight reel and start actually receiving the real, unposted, good-enough life You set in front of me.
I have been blessed more than I deserve and more than I notice. Open my eyes to the abundance already here. Amen.
Amen.
You can name every want in seconds. Try naming the gifts.
