A Prayer for a Big Decision

2 min readPray slowly
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him”James 1:5

Father, the deadline is close and I keep opening the same two doors in my mind, walking through each one a hundred times, never stepping through either. My shoulders are tight and my appetite is gone. This choice has gotten bigger than I am.

I confess I have been treating this like a test I could fail, like one wrong move would unravel everything. I have asked everyone but You, gathered every opinion, and somehow only grown more afraid.

So I bring it to You now, the real version, not the tidy one. You see the parts I am not saying out loud. You know what I actually want and what I am actually scared of.

Make the right path feel less like a gamble and more like a road. Quiet the noise of what people will think. Where I am leaning out of fear, gently turn me. Where I am leaning out of faith, steady my feet.

You promised that if I lack wisdom, I can simply ask, and You give it freely, without scolding me for asking. So here I am, asking plainly.

I will not force an answer tonight. I will trust that You can lead a willing heart even one that is unsure. Decide me, Lord, the way a shepherd decides the next field. Amen.

Amen.

You do not have to be certain to be led. You only have to be willing.
