A Prayer for God's Will
Lord, I keep saying I want Your will, but if I am honest I want it to match the plan I already drew up in pencil and pressed over in ink. I want Your blessing on my map more than I want Your map.
Forgive me for that. For the times I prayed for guidance with my mind already made up, just hoping You would sign off.
So I am opening my hands today, really opening them, and laying my preferences down where You can see them. If what I want is good, hold it. If it is not, loosen my grip before it costs me.
Teach me to want what You want, not as a defeat but as a homecoming. Let Your desires slowly become mine, the way a child grows into the shape of the people who raise them.
You said that as I delight in You, You would give me the desires of my heart, reshaping the wanting itself. Do that quiet work in me.
I would rather walk a harder road in step with You than an easy one alone. Have Your way in me, and let me find it was the way I longed for all along. Amen.
Amen.
Surrender is not losing your wants. It is letting God refine them.
