A Prayer for Guidance in a New Job or Career Change

Lord, the offer is sitting in my inbox, or maybe the resignation letter is sitting in my drafts, and either way my stomach drops every time I look at it. This is my livelihood, my routine, the place I have known how to be.

I confess I have made this an idol of security. I have measured my worth by my title and clung to the familiar even when it stopped fitting me, just because leaving feels like falling.

So I bring the whole tangled thing to You, the money worries, the pride, the fear of starting over, the quiet hope I am almost afraid to name.

Show me whether this door is Yours to walk through or one I am forcing open. Provide for what I cannot control. Give me courage if You are calling me forward and peace if You are asking me to stay.

You promised that the plans You have for me are for welfare and not for harm, to give me a future and a hope.

My security was never the job. It was always You. Lead me into the work You have for me, Father, and let me follow without flinching. Amen.
