A Prayer for the Next Step
Lord, I keep trying to see the whole staircase when You have only ever shown me one step at a time. I freeze, staring up into the dark, waiting for the full plan before I will lift my foot.
I confess my fear is really a lack of trust. I want guarantees before I move, proof that the next stretch is safe, so I never have to walk by faith at all.
But that is not how You lead. You give light for the step in front of me, not the whole journey. You ask me to trust the One holding the lamp, not to memorize the map.
So show me only the next thing. Not the career, not the five years, not the final destination. Just the one small obedience for today, and the courage to actually do it.
Your word says Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, enough to see where to step, not the whole horizon.
I will stop demanding the staircase and take the step. Light my feet, Father, and I will trust You to light the next one when I get there. Amen.
Amen.
God lights the step, not the staircase. Take the one you can see.
