A Prayer Before Making a Choice
Father, my hand is on the door, the email is written, the answer is almost out of my mouth, and I pause. Before I commit, before this becomes something I cannot take back, I want to bring it to You first.
I confess how often I have done it backward, made the choice, then asked You to bless what I already chose. This time I want to ask before, not after.
So here, in this last quiet moment, I lay the decision in front of You. Search it with me. If there is pride in it, show me. If there is fear driving it, name it. If it is good, give me peace to proceed.
Steady my heart so I am not choosing from panic or pressure or the need to be liked. Let me move from a settled place, not a frantic one.
You said that in all my ways I should acknowledge You, and You would make my paths straight. So I acknowledge You now, at the threshold.
If this is Yours, let me feel Your peace settle like a hand on my shoulder. If it is not, hold me back. I am listening before I leap. Amen.
Amen.
Pause before you commit. The moment before is the best time to pray.
