A Prayer for Hope in the Future

God, when I think about what is ahead, my stomach tightens. The road in front of me is unlit, and I cannot see the turns or whether the ground will hold. I keep trying to plan my way to certainty and ending up more anxious than before.

I confess I want a map when You have only promised Your presence. I want guarantees I am not going to get, and my craving for them is stealing my peace today.

So I bring You my unknown future, the part I cannot script or secure. You already stand in the days I have not reached. None of them will surprise You.

You said You know the plans You have for me, plans to give me a future and a hope, not to harm me. Let those words steady me when the not-knowing rises.

I lay down my demand for the whole picture. I will trust You for the next step and let the rest stay in Your hands. Walk ahead of me into the days I fear.

My future is unknown to me but not to You, and that is enough. Lead me forward, one lit step at a time. Amen.
