Loneliness

A Prayer for Loneliness on the Weekend

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28

Father, the weekend has arrived and with it the hours I dread. The workweek gave me somewhere to be and people to nod to, but now the phone is quiet and the days stretch long and empty. Everyone else seems to have somewhere to go and someone to go with.

I confess I scroll through everyone else's plans and feel the sting of being left out, and then I stay in and call it rest when really I am just hiding from how alone it feels.

So I bring You these unstructured, aching hours. You invite the weary and burdened to come to You and find rest, the real kind, not the kind that only fills the silence with noise.

Turn this empty weekend into something more than a thing to survive. Nudge me toward a walk, a call, a small kindness, a quiet moment with You. Be present company in the very hours that feel the loneliest.

I release the comparison and the dread. You are with me on a Saturday afternoon as surely as in a crowded room. Sit with me in this quiet, and let me find that being alone with You is not the same as being alone. Amen.

Amen.

The empty weekend hours can become the ones you share with Him.
