A Prayer for When No One Understands Me

Lord, I am surrounded by people and still feel completely unknown. I try to explain what I am carrying and watch their eyes glaze, or I get advice when I needed presence. The loneliest thing is not being alone, it is being misunderstood by the people right next to me.

I confess I have stopped trying to be understood. I give the short answer, I say I am fine, I keep the real me tucked away where it cannot be dismissed again.

So I bring You the parts no one else seems to grasp. You search me and know me completely, You perceive my thoughts from far off, You understand what I cannot even put into words.

Be the One who gets it when no one else does. Remind me I am not too much and not too strange to be loved. And send me, in time, even one person who will truly see me.

I lay down the exhaustion of explaining myself. You knew me before I had a single word for any of this, and You have never once misread my heart. Tonight I am fully understood by the God who made me, and that is enough to rest in. Amen.
