A Prayer for Marriage Restoration

2 min readPray slowly
“I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, says the Lord.”Joel 2:25

Father, there is so much broken between us that some days I cannot picture it whole again. We are living in the wreckage of words we cannot unsay, and the gap between us feels too wide for any bridge I know how to build.

I confess my part in the breaking. I have wanted restoration mostly so the pain would stop, not always so my spouse could flourish. Purify my motives. I do not just want comfort back, I want this love made true.

So I cry out to You, the God who makes streams run in deserts and calls dry bones back to life. What looks dead to me is not beyond You. You have rebuilt ruins older and harder than ours.

Restore what the years and the wounds have eaten. Rebuild trust brick by patient brick. Where I cannot find the words, give me the willingness to stay at the table and try again.

You promised to restore the years the locusts had eaten, to give back what felt lost for good. I am holding You to that hope tonight, with both hands.

I surrender the timeline and the outcome to You. I cannot resurrect this on my own, but You raise things from the dead. Make our marriage a place where Your restoring work is plain to everyone who knows us. Amen.

Amen.

Nothing you have buried is beyond His power to raise.
