A Prayer for Protection While Driving
Father, I am about to pull onto the road, and I feel the weight of it more than I usually admit. So much of what happens out there is not in my hands. Other drivers, sudden weather, the split second I cannot see coming.
I confess that I either grow careless or grip the wheel with a low, humming fear. Sometimes both in the same trip. I think of the people I love who are counting on me to come home, and the worry sneaks in beside me like a passenger.
So before I turn the key, I turn to You. You see every mile ahead of me that I cannot. You know the road I will travel and the moment I will arrive.
Steady my hands and clear my mind. Keep me alert and unhurried. Guard the cars around me, the ones carrying strangers I will never meet, and bring each of us safely to where we are going.
Your word promises that You watch over my coming and going, both now and always. Let that promise ride with me today.
I release my grip and trust You with the journey. Whatever the road holds, I am not traveling it alone. Carry me home, and let me arrive with a grateful heart. Amen.
Amen.
He sees the road ahead that you cannot.
