A Prayer for Safety in Dangerous Times

“The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”Psalm 9:9

Father, the headlines read like warnings and the air itself feels uncertain, as if the ground under ordinary life has started to shift. I wake up uneasy and go to bed the same way, and I am tired of living braced for the next blow.

I confess that the constant threat has worn me thin. I doom-scroll for a sense of control that never comes, and the fear has crept into how I treat the people I love. I have let the danger outside become a hardness inside.

So I bring my frayed nerves to You. Be my refuge in days that feel lawless. Guard my home, my city, the people I will pass on the street, and steady the leaders who hold so much in their hands.

You said You are a stronghold in times of trouble, a refuge for the oppressed, and that those who know Your name can trust in You. I am choosing that trust over the panic.

Let me live unafraid in fearful times, doing the next right thing with a quiet heart. Keep me, and keep the ones I cannot protect. Amen.

Amen.

When the ground feels uncertain, the refuge underneath you does not move.
