A Prayer for Daily Provision

Father, I wake into another day that needs feeding, another round of needs lined up like mouths, and I am asking You only for what this one day requires.

I confess I want the whole year guaranteed in advance, the full storehouse visible, because trusting You one day at a time leaves me feeling exposed and small.

But this is how You taught me to ask, for daily bread, not a year of it, drawing me close enough to depend on You each morning rather than once and then forgetting You.

Provide for today. Food on the table, gas in the tank, the small needs that quietly add up. Let there be enough when the sun goes down, and let me notice that there was.

You fed Your people in the wilderness with manna that came fresh each morning and spoiled if they hoarded it, teaching them, and me, to trust the One who sends it again tomorrow.

I receive today's portion with open hands and a grateful heart. Tomorrow I will come and ask again, and You will be there. Amen.
