A Prayer for Provision in a Crisis

Lord, everything tipped over at once. The unexpected bill, the thing that broke, the news I did not see coming, and now I am scrambling with no cushion left to catch me.

I confess the panic has me by the throat. My mind is racing through worst cases and I cannot think straight, and the suddenness of it has knocked the steadiness right out of me.

But I turn to You in the middle of the chaos, the God who is a very present help in trouble, not a distant one, near enough to reach in the very moment things fall apart.

Provide in the emergency. Give me what I need fast, and just as urgently give me a steady mind to handle what comes next. Be the calm in the room and the help that arrives in time.

Your word says You are my refuge and strength, so I will not fear though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the sea. Let that hold true in my small earthquake too.

I throw myself on Your help in this crisis. Catch me where there is no cushion, and steady me until the shaking stops. Amen.
