A Prayer to Pay My Bills

2 min readPray slowly
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.”Matthew 6:34

Father, the envelopes are stacked on the counter and I keep walking past them, and my chest tightens every time, because I know what is inside and I do not know how I will cover it.

I confess I have let the due dates pile into a low hum of dread that follows me through the day, and I have been ashamed to bring something this ordinary and this heavy to You.

But You are not too holy for my electric bill. You are the God who counts the hairs on my head, who knows the small daily fears no one else sees.

Help me cover what is due. Stretch what I have, show me the call to make, the payment plan, the unexpected bit of work, the help I am too proud to ask for. Give me wisdom and give me margin.

You told me not to worry about tomorrow, that each day has enough trouble of its own, and that my Father knows what I need. Let me believe that tonight.

I hand You this stack of paper and the worry underneath it. Meet me in the very practical place where the money has to be real. Amen.

Amen.

Nothing on that counter is too small or too ordinary for Him.
