A Prayer for Strength During Financial Hardship

Father, the bills are stacked on the counter, and I have done the math more times than I can count, and the numbers still will not stretch. I lie awake doing arithmetic in the dark, and morning brings no answer.

I confess I am ashamed, and I am scared, and I have wondered if I failed somewhere to end up this tight. The worry has its hands around my throat.

So I bring this empty account and this anxious heart to You, the One who feeds the birds and clothes the fields without their striving. I do not see the way through, but I know You do.

Provide what we need, not always what I want, but enough for today and the strength to face tomorrow. Loosen the grip of fear that tightens every time I open the mail. Give me wisdom with what little I have and dignity while I wait.

You told me not to worry about my life, what I would eat or wear, because my Father knows what I need before I ask. Help me trust that knowing tonight.

I cannot see the provision yet, but I trust the Provider, and I lay this burden in hands that have never run empty. Amen.
