A Prayer for Strength When You Are Weary
Father, I am tired in a way that goes past my body, the kind of tired that a full night of sleep does not fix. I have been running on fumes for so long I have forgotten what rested feels like.
I confess I have been afraid to stop, as if the whole weight of everything would collapse the moment I set it down. So I have kept going, and the keeping going has worn me thin.
So I come to You now, with empty hands and a heavy heart, and I take You at Your word that I do not have to earn rest. I only have to come, just as I am, with nothing left to prove.
Lift this weariness from my shoulders, the kind that has settled into my bones over months of carrying too much. Restore what the long stretch has drained out of me. Teach me to lean my whole tired weight on You without flinching.
You invited me to come to You when I am weary and burdened, and promised that You would give me rest for my soul. I am taking You up on that promise now.
Let me sink into the strength You give, and rise tomorrow lighter than I am tonight. Amen.
Amen.
Rest is not a reward for the strong. It is a gift for the weary.
