A Prayer for a Big Decision at Work

2 min readPray slowly
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”Proverbs 3:5-6

Father, I have two paths in front of me and a deadline pressing on both. I have made the lists, weighed the risks, talked it to death with everyone I trust, and still I lie awake turning it over, no clearer than when I started.

I confess I want a guarantee You have not offered, a sign in the sky that says go left or go right so I will never have to carry the weight of being wrong. My fear of the mistake has frozen me.

So I quiet the spinning long enough to ask what You see that I cannot. Untangle the voice of wisdom from the voice of fear. Show me which door leads toward the person You are making me into.

You promised that if I trust You with my whole heart instead of leaning only on my own understanding, You would make my paths straight. I lean on You now where my own logic runs out.

Give me peace with the choice once it is made, and the humility to adjust if I have misread the way. Lead me, and I will follow even one uncertain step at a time. Amen.

Amen.

You do not need to see the whole road to take the next faithful step.
