A Prayer for a Stressful Workday

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28

Father, it is barely mid morning and already the inbox is overflowing, three people need me at once, the deadline moved up, and I have not stopped long enough to breathe. My chest is tight and my mind is sprinting in six directions.

I confess I have been treating today like a battle I have to win by force, gripping every task as if everything will collapse the moment I let go. The pressure has made me short with the people around me.

So I stop, just for these few seconds, and set it all down at Your feet. Slow my racing thoughts. Help me to do the next thing, only the next thing, and to trust that the list will not undo me.

You invited the weary and the heavy laden to come to You and promised rest for our souls. I am weary right now, in the middle of the noise, so I come and take the rest You offer.

Carry what is too heavy for me to hold and let me move through this day with a quieter heart. Be the calm beneath the rush, the steady center I keep returning to. Amen.

Amen.

You can only do the next thing. Hand the rest to the One who holds it all.
