A Prayer for a Job Promotion
Father, the role I have wanted is finally open, and I want it more than I am comfortable admitting. I have worked hard, hoped quietly, and now I am caught between believing I have earned it and fearing I will be passed over again.
I confess that my hunger has curdled into comparison. I have measured myself against coworkers, rehearsed grievances, and let envy creep into a heart that should be grateful for the work I already have.
So I bring this longing to You honestly. You are the One who lifts up and sets down, and no committee decides my future without You in the room.
If this promotion is right for me, open the door no one can shut, and prepare me to carry the weight of it well. If it is not, guard my heart from bitterness and show me what You are doing instead.
Your word says that promotion comes not from the east or the west, but from You, the One who judges and lifts up. So I rest my ambition in Your hands.
I release the timing and the title to You. Whatever the answer, let me keep showing up with excellence and trust that You are not finished writing my story. Amen.
Amen.
The One who opens and shuts doors is also the One who is for you.
