A Prayer for Patience with a Difficult Coworker

2 min readPray slowly
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”Ephesians 4:2

Father, there is one person on this team who tests every ounce of patience I have, who interrupts, takes credit, leaves the hard parts for me, and somehow always lands smelling like roses. By noon my teeth are clenched.

I confess I have started keeping a private ledger of every offense, replaying conversations, building a case against them in my head that I will probably never say out loud but that is quietly poisoning me.

So I bring this irritation to You before it becomes something colder. Soften the edges of my reaction. Help me to see the person and not just the annoyance, to assume less and extend more, to let small things stay small.

Your word calls me to be patient, bearing with one another in love, and to keep no record of wrongs. So I tear up the ledger I have been keeping and ask You to free me from it.

Give me the grace to be peaceable without being a pushover, kind without being false. Let my response to them say more about who You are than who they are. Amen.

Amen.

You cannot change them, but you can refuse to let them harden your heart.
