A Prayer for Focus When My Mind Keeps Wandering at Work
Father, I have read the same paragraph four times and absorbed none of it. My mind keeps drifting to the phone, the worry, the dozen half open tabs, and the task in front of me sits untouched while the hours leak away.
I confess I have been scattering my attention like loose change, mistaking busyness for work, then ending the day exhausted but with little to show, frustrated at myself for not being able to simply settle.
So I ask You to gather my fragmented mind into one place. Quiet the pull of distraction. Help me to give this one task the attention it deserves, to be fully present in the thing actually in front of me.
Your word says to set my mind on what is good and true and worthy, and that a steadfast mind is kept in perfect peace because it trusts in You. Anchor my wandering thoughts to that.
Let me work this hour with a clear and undivided head, and finish the day knowing I gave it my real presence and not just my time. Steady me, and bring my mind home. Amen.
Amen.
A scattered mind finds its center when it stops trying to hold everything at once.
