A Prayer for Faith in God's Promises

Father, I am holding onto Your promises tonight, but my grip feels uncertain. The circumstances in front of me seem to argue against everything You have said, and I am caught between what I see and what You have spoken.

I confess that I have let the evidence of my eyes outweigh the truth of Your word. When the answer is slow, I start to wonder if the promise was ever really mine.

But You are not a man, that You would lie, and You do not make promises You forget to keep. So I anchor myself to Your character when my circumstances try to pull me loose.

Strengthen my faith in what You have said. Let Your promises be more real to me than the worry in front of me, more solid than the doubt that keeps tugging at my sleeve.

You said that not one good word of Yours has ever failed, that everything You promised has come to pass. So I will stand on that record tonight.

I trust the One who made the promise more than I trust the wait. Hold me to Your word, Lord, until I see it come true. Amen.
