A Prayer for Guidance in a Relationship Decision

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”Proverbs 15:22

Father, my heart and my head are pulling in different directions about this person, and I cannot tell which voice to trust. I love them, or I think I do, but love alone has not made the way forward clear.

I confess that I have been afraid to ask You honestly, because I am scared of an answer I do not want to hear. I have prayed for reassurance more than I have prayed for truth.

So I lay this relationship open before You, the One who sees what I cannot, the patterns beneath the feelings and the future I have no way to know.

Give me clarity instead of mere comfort. Where there is something I keep excusing, show it to me plainly. Where there is real good I keep doubting out of fear, settle my heart. Your word says that without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed, so surround me with wise and honest voices alongside Your own.

I surrender my longing to not be alone and my fear of letting go. I would rather wait on Your best than rush into less. Guide this decision with Your truth, and give me the strength to follow it. Amen.

Amen.

Ask God for truth, not just for the answer you already want.
