A Prayer for Guidance in Choosing a College

2 min readPray slowly
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye upon you.”Psalm 32:8

Father, the acceptance letters are spread out in front of me, and instead of feeling grateful I feel frozen. Each one is a different version of my life, and I cannot tell which campus, which city, which path is the one You are pointing me toward.

I confess that I have been weighing this almost entirely by money, by rankings, by what will impress people, and I have barely paused to ask what You want for me. I have let the pressure of deadlines crowd out prayer.

So I bring all of it to You now, the cost and the distance and the unknowns. You are the One who knit my gifts together, and You already know the place where they will grow best.

Show me clearly. Steady the people advising me. Where I am chasing prestige instead of purpose, gently turn me. Your word says You will instruct me and teach me in the way I should go and keep Your eye upon me, so I am asking You to do exactly that.

I release the fear of choosing wrong. I trust that no honest, prayerful decision puts me outside Your reach. Lead me to the place where I will become more fully who You made me to be. Amen.

Amen.

God cares more about who you become than where you go.
