A Prayer for Wisdom

2 min readPray slowly
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight”Proverbs 9:10

Father, I have been confusing information with wisdom. I have read the articles, made the lists, weighed the pros and cons until my head aches, and I still do not know the right thing to do.

I confess my pride in this. I have wanted to be the kind of person who simply knows, who never needs to ask, who has all the answers ready. And that pride has left me stuck.

So I come humbled. I do not need to be the wisest person in the room. I just need a sliver of Your wisdom, the kind that sees past the obvious and knows what truly matters.

Give me discernment that goes deeper than cleverness. Help me tell the urgent from the important, the loud from the true. Where my own reasoning runs out, let Yours begin.

Your word says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, that it starts with knowing who You are and who I am not.

Make me wise in the way that lasts, the kind that looks like peace and patience and quiet good judgment. I trade my need to look smart for Your gift of true seeing. Amen.

Amen.

Wisdom begins not with knowing more, but with knowing God.
