A Prayer for Hope in a Dark Season
God, this season has gone dark, and I cannot tell how long the night will last. The brightness I remember feels like another person's life. I move through my days under a low gray sky and wonder when the sun will come back.
I confess that in the dark I have begun to doubt whether You are still here, since I cannot feel You the way I once did. The silence has frightened me.
But I am speaking to You anyway, into the dark, trusting that You hear even when I cannot sense it. The night is not dark to You. You see clearly where I am blind.
Your word says even the darkness is not dark to You, that the night shines like the day, for darkness is as light in Your sight. Let that quiet my fear of what I cannot see.
I let go of needing to feel You to know You are near. I trust Your presence in the absence of the feeling. Be the light I cannot generate myself.
Dark seasons end, and You are with me in every hour of this one. Hold me through the night, and lead me toward the dawn. Amen.
Amen.
God is not lost in your dark season; the darkness that blinds you is daylight to Him.
