A Prayer for Hope That Does Not Disappoint
Father, I have been let down so many times that hope itself has started to feel risky. I have pinned my heart on people, on plans, on outcomes, and watched them crumble, and now I flinch at the idea of hoping for anything at all.
I confess I have been placing my hope in things that were never built to hold it. No wonder it kept collapsing. I have asked fragile things to carry an eternal weight.
So I bring my bruised and cautious heart to You, the one hope that has never failed and never will. You are the anchor that holds when everything else drifts.
Your word says hope in You does not put us to shame, because Your love has been poured into our hearts. That is a hope built on Your character, not on circumstances that shift.
I lift my hope off the things that keep breaking. I set it where it belongs, on You. Anchor me to what cannot be shaken.
Hope rooted in You will never embarrass me or leave me ashamed. Steady my heart on that foundation, and let me hope without fear again. Amen.
Amen.
Hope disappoints when it leans on the wrong thing; anchored in God, it holds.
