A Prayer for a Husband Who Has Walked Away from God

2 min readPray slowly
“They may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives.”1 Peter 3:1

Father, the man I married used to pray beside me, and now he will not come near anything that reminds him of You. I watch him drift further out each season, and the loneliness of believing alone in my own home aches more than I can say.

I confess I have tried to nag him back, to guilt and argue him toward faith, and it has only pushed him further. I have made my fear his burden. Forgive me for trying to do Your work with my own clumsy hands.

So I bring my husband to You, the One who pursues the wandering heart far more gently and relentlessly than I ever could. You have not lost sight of him. You are working in places I cannot see or reach.

Soften whatever wound or disappointment turned him away. Send people and moments that draw him back. And in the meantime, let my quiet faith be a witness louder than any sermon I could preach at him.

Your word says a husband may be won without a word, by the gentle and respectful life of his wife. So let my love do the speaking where my arguments have failed.

I surrender my husband to You and lay down the timeline I keep trying to set. Draw him home in Your way. I will keep loving him and trusting You, and I will not stop believing for two. Amen.

Amen.

Your steady, quiet faith preaches louder than any argument ever could.
