A Prayer for Reconnecting with My Spouse

2 min readPray slowly
“Rejoice in the spouse of your youth, and may you always be captivated by their love.”Proverbs 5:18

Father, we have become roommates. Efficient, polite, coordinating schedules and splitting chores, but somewhere along the way we stopped really seeing each other. I miss my spouse, and they are sitting right here in the same house.

I confess I let the busyness become an excuse. I gave my best energy to everything else and brought home only what was left, then wondered why the spark dimmed. I helped this distance grow without ever deciding to.

So I come to You, the One who knows how to draw close hearts that have wandered far. I do not want a marriage that just functions. I want the friendship back, the laughter, the feeling of being known and chosen.

Help me turn toward my spouse instead of past them. Remind me to ask the real questions, to make time that is not about logistics, to pursue the person I once could not stop thinking about.

Your word says to drink from your own well, to rejoice in the partner of your youth. Reawaken that delight in us. Let us fall for each other all over again.

I lay our drifting marriage in Your hands and ask You to pull us back together. Rebuild the closeness one shared moment at a time. Help us find our way back to each other, and to joy. Amen.

Amen.

Roommates share a house. Choose, today, to share a life again.
